COASTLINE FIX

Golf Cart Tires and Wheels

Nobody wants to trailer a cart to fix a flat. I bring tires, a bead breaker, and a torque wrench to your driveway, and I will tell you honestly whether your cart needs one tire or a set of four.

Call (858) 683-6900 or book a cart visit.

What I do at your house

Flat repair, valve stems, tire replacement, wheel swaps, and lug torque, plus pressure set correctly for your cart and your load. On a lifted cart I check clearance before fitting anything larger.

If a tire has been run flat, I inspect the sidewall and the bead seat rather than just reinflating it. A run flat cart tire often looks fine and is finished.

Street legal LSVs need rated tires

A cart registered as a low speed vehicle needs tires rated for road use and for the speed the cart can reach. Standard turf tires are not built for sustained pavement speed and they wear quickly and unevenly on asphalt.

If your cart is registered, or you plan to register it, get the tire question settled before the inspection rather than after.

Why coastal carts eat front tires

Uneven front tire wear is almost never the tire. It is toe alignment, a worn tie rod end, or pressure that has been low for a year. Replacing tires without fixing the cause just buys you another season of the same wear.

I check the front end and toe whenever front tires are worn unevenly, and I will tell you if the tires are a symptom rather than the problem.

Frequently asked questions

Can you fix a golf cart flat at my house?

Yes. Flat repair, valve stems, and tire replacement are all done on site. That is the $99 repair visit plus the tire itself.

What pressure should golf cart tires run?

Most cart tires run well below the sidewall maximum, and the right number depends on the tire and how loaded the cart is. Overinflating gives a harsh ride and wears the tread center. I set pressure for your actual use.

Do I need special tires for a street legal LSV?

Yes. A registered low speed vehicle needs tires rated for road use and for the speed the cart can reach. Turf tires wear quickly and unevenly on pavement and are not intended for sustained road speed.

Why are my front tires wearing on the edges?

Usually toe alignment or a worn tie rod end, and sometimes long term low pressure. New tires without fixing the cause will wear the same way, so I check the front end whenever front wear is uneven.

Can I fit bigger tires without a lift?

Only slightly bigger, and it depends on the cart. I check clearance at full lock and full suspension travel before fitting anything larger, because a tire that rubs at lock will cut itself and the fender.
