Frequently asked questions about the inspection
Does a mechanic's inspection count as the required safety course?
No. The school course covers rules of the road. The School-Ready eBike Safety Inspection complements that course by checking whether the bike itself is safe and identifying its class and speed capability.
What happens if an eBike fails the safety check?
The written summary identifies the problem as Needs Attention or Fail. Repairs are quoted separately on the spot and are never included in the inspection price. A parent decides whether to approve any repair.
How long does the inspection take?
The School-Ready eBike Safety Inspection takes about 20 to 30 minutes at home and about 10 to 15 minutes at a Bike Check Day.
Do you come to our home?
Yes. Coastline Fix comes to the family's home or driveway in North County San Diego for the At Home inspection.
Can you verify whether an eBike is Class 1, 2 or 3?
Yes. The inspection includes class and speed verification, including a check of the frame label and the bike's configured assist or throttle capability.
Why is Bike Check Day cheaper?
At a Bike Check Day, the bikes come to us at one school location, so there is no drive time between stops.
