The Right Tire Pressure for Your eBike (and Why It Matters in San Diego)

MaintenanceApril 29, 20266 min read

How to dial in eBike tire pressure for North County roads, bike paths, and beach trails — with PSI ranges for fat tires, hybrids, and commuters.

Tire pressure is the cheapest performance upgrade you'll ever make. Run it right and your eBike rolls faster, grips better, and gets way fewer flats. Run it wrong and you fight the bike on every ride.

Why PSI matters more on an eBike

eBikes are heavy — 60–80 lbs loaded — and they hit potholes at car speeds. Underinflated tires pinch-flat against the rim. Overinflated tires skip on rough pavement and lose grip on sandy bike paths.

Recommended PSI by tire type

Always check the **sidewall printed range** — never exceed the max, and never drop below the min for long.

San Diego–specific tips

Check it weekly

eBike tires lose 1–3 PSI per week just from natural air loss. A $15 floor pump with a gauge pays for itself in one avoided flat.

Pinch-flatted? We can help

If you've already flatted, we carry tubes for every common eBike size and can swap one in your driveway in 20 minutes. Most jobs are same-day across North County.
